The 22nd UNAFF will be held from October 17-27, 2019 in Palo Alto, Stanford University, East Palo Alto and San Francisco. This year’s theme SCALES OF JUSTICE continues our two decades long celebration of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, emphasizing the fight for justice and exploring possible paths emanating from it into the future.

As one of the oldest solely documentary film festivals in the US, UNAFF has grown and earned the respect of audiences and filmmakers alike for its fearless independence and integrity. In addition to providing early outlets for films, many of which later went on to win major awards and accolades, UNAFF prides itself in creating a community forum with year-round programs for discovery and dialogue about different cultures, issues and solutions.

Over the years UNAFF has screened some of the most awarded and talked about documentaries in the industry, including seven that went on to win Academy Awards and thirty that were nominated

Louisville's International Festival of Film

Louisville’s International Festival of Film debuted in 2009 with tremendous support from the city. Our partnerships with Louisville’s Sister Cities program lead to a great diversity of international films. Our marketing firm reported that we reached over one million people with news about our festival. Over the years we have built on that success and we partnered with distribution companies who review all of our accepted films. We are excited to announce that many of our past feature films have obtained various distribution deals. We have expanded our partnerships to include Final Draft and we are proud to announce that festival winners will be given the Final Draft program in addition to other prizes and awards.

New Haven Documentary Film Festival

  • New Haven Free Public Library, Community Program Room (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

NHdocs seeks to build a sense of community among documentary filmmakers from the greater New Haven area (and we are quite inclusive in our reach!). Many of these filmmakers work as independents, some teach at universities in the area, while others rely on various kinds of day jobs. We look forward to showing work that has been or will be shown at prominent International Film Festivals, but we also want to show work being done in the city’s schools and by students at nearby universities. We are resolutely democratic in our embrace of the documentary tradition on the local as well as the international level. We can learn from and support each other.

Admission is FREE! But if you want guaranteed seating and a chance to party with the filmmakers, pick up a Fast Pass or Fast Pass Deluxe HERE.

Guests: Director Zachary Stauffer, Associate Producer Jason Paladino

Free tickets to these community screenings are available at the Rafael box office and online, please click here to reserve your seat(s): https://rafaelfilm.cafilm.org/van-dorn/

FIRST COME – FIRST SERVED  |  SEATING IS NOT GUARANTEED

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT TICKETING:

Community Cinema tickets are still free, but you must have a ticket to attend the screening. Please select the “Print-at-Home” option when ordering your ticket online, and then either print your ticket at home to bring with you, or show it on your mobile device at the door.

Please arrive early for all Community Cinema screenings. Since this is a free screening, we experience many no-shows and must overbook the theater in order to compensate. Your ticket will not guarantee you a seat if we are already full when you arrive.

You will no longer receive reminder emails about your attendance or asking if you need to cancel, so if you register for a screening but find you are unable to attend, we would be extremely grateful if you would email us at rafaeltheater@cafilm.org to cancel your reservation so we can offer your seat to another patron (and help us pare down the number of aforementioned no-shows).

Thanks for your support of Community Cinema!
