In 2014, Brian Collins, a Truckee native and Truckee High School grad, lost his life in the crash of US Navy helicopter. Growing up, Brian and I worked nights at Cottonwood Restaurant and days at Alpine Meadows (and W&T Graphix!).

At the time of his death, I was in journalism school and decided to dig deep into the cause. It turns out there was more to the story.

Almost 5 years later, the resulting documentary film is finished. It doesn't focus on Brian specifically, but it uses the pilot's story and the crash to reveal systemic issues that contributed to the sorry state of the helicopters and eventually his death. It is the result of years of investigative reporting, document digging, source cultivating, whistleblowers, leaks and good old fashioned journalism.

Brian was deeply tied to and loved by the Truckee-Tahoe community. He is buried in the Truckee cemetery. I know there are people still trying to make sense of what happened. This film may help.

This is a special community screening of the film for the Truckee/Tahoe community. The event is free, but please RSVP by clicking the "Going" button, so we can get an idea of the size.

After the film, we will have a Q&A.

If you can't make it to the Friday Truckee screening, there will be a smaller screening at Sierra Nevada College two days earlier on Wednesday, Nov 7th. Info on that screening here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1211024419022655/

Later Event: November 12
